That I am sick and cannot function well –
My eyes they sting whenever they see you,
As if with smoke from those great fires of hell.
My throat is tight and gasps with every breath –
‘Tis blocked by somersaults from my ill heart.
I find myself awake and beg to Death
Before a day of seeing you can start.
My knees they shake; they buckle underneath
My weight whene’er by chance we talk,
And when you leave, I feel no ground beneath
My feet, as I do float rather than walk.
Please leave me now; I’ve finally had enough –
For I am struck with this disease
